The two sides of our brain are not the same, and do not perform the same functions. We all use both sides of our brain, but we say that people are “right-brained” or “left-brained”, depending on which side of their brain is more dominant.
The right brain controls the left side of the body, and is the creative and artistic side. It is responsible for our imagination and “intuition”, and it is important for musical skills. The right side of the brain is the side that helps us recognize faces of people we know.
If a person is right-brained, they are often good at memorization. When you talk to a right-brained person they will look at you, but will look away when they answer a question because they have a brain shift from one part of the brain to another. Right-brained people are often artists, craftsmen, or entrepreneurs.
The left brain controls the right side of the body, and is the academic and logical side. The left side of the brain is responsible for science and math, as well as language. When a person is trying to think of a fact, it is the left side of the brain that pulls it out of the memory and helps say it out loud.
Left-brained people are often good at math. They prefer a stepwise approach to problems, and don’t like to jump to conclusions.
