Stairs or elevator?

What would happen if you took the stairs every day for a month, instead of the elevator?

An average flight of stairs is 10 steps (flights can vary).

When you take the stairs you burn about .17 calories per step, which is about 1.5 calories per flight.  You also burn calories going down, about 0.5 calories per flight.

So if you took the stairs every day for a month, one time a day, you would burn an extra 60 calories a month.

If you took the stairs once a day for a year, you would burn an extra 720 calories a year!

In addition, regular climbing can lower resting heart rate and improve balance, according to a study done in 2014, as well as increasing the muscle strength in your legs.

Plus, it saves 2.5 Kilowatt-hour of electricity for each time you take the stairs instead of the elevator, so better for the environment!
