A new cancer vaccine may be a game changer for patients with a certain type of ovarian cancer.
A study in patients with recurrent advanced epithelial ovarian cancer has shown that patients who received a special vaccine had survival of 100% at 24 months!
How does it work? The patient’s had an injection of whole-tumor lysate.
What is tumor lysate? Basically, the tumor is collected from the patient, emulsified, cooked in an incubator, and strained. It is then injected back into the cancer patient.
The injection activates the patient’s own immune system. This causes the patient’s own immune system to fight against their cancer.
