There is a new device called the “OrCam MyEye”, that attaches magnetically to a pair of eyeglasses, and can help blind or partially-blind people see.
The device scans any surface, such as a book, sign, or computer screen. It has a speaker that the user puts in their pocket. The device then speaks the scanned words aloud.
It also has facial recognition to identify an approaching individual, and can tell the user the approaching person’s name.
The OrCam MyEye can also identify objects, such as different grocery items when the user is grocery shopping.
The device can read in English, Spanish, and French.
The device is also being used to help those with reading difficulties such as dyslexia.
