We all know that heavy alcohol consumptions is bad for you.
But what about moderate alcohol consumption?
In a very large review of over 100 studies about alcohol consumption and heart disease, researchers found that moderate drinkers have a 25-40 percent reduction of heart attacks, strokes, peripheral vascular disease, and death!(https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/alcohol-and-heart-disease/).
Why does that happen? Alcohol increases HDL cholesterol (the good kind of cholesterol), has anti-oxidants that reduce inflammation, and has non-clotting properties that make blood less “sticky” and less likely to clot.
What is moderate consumption? Moderate alcohol consumption is considered 2-3 drinks a day for a man and 1-1/2 drinks a day for a woman.
